Overview
We collaborated with Itamar Lubanov, a talented up-and-coming director, to produce Parallels, a sci-fi comedy romance short film. The project aimed to combine the charm of romantic storytelling with comedic elements, enhanced by high-quality visual effects. The film has since been selected for the Jerusalem Film Festival (JFF) and is currently on a festival run across the globe.
Challenges & Approach
The primary challenge was bringing to life a sci-fi world that felt believable and immersive, while maintaining the heart of a romantic comedy. With a tight budget and limited production time, our team had to creatively employ visual effects to amplify the film’s futuristic elements, without overshadowing its emotional core. We worked closely with Itamar to strike a balance between technical execution and narrative flow, ensuring that the VFX enhanced the story rather than dominating it.
The Result
Parallels achieved its goal of blending genres, delivering a lighthearted yet visually stunning film that resonated with audiences. The film’s unique mix of romance, comedy, and sci-fi, paired with its standout VFX work, contributed to its success at the Jerusalem Film Festival and its continued recognition on the international festival circuit.
